Matter Early Access Program Available for Decora Smart Wi-Fi 2nd Gen

Using the My Leviton app, you can now easily enroll in Leviton's Matter Early Access Program. Once enrolled, Matter certified firmware can be downloaded to your devices.

What is Matter?

Matter was developed by the Connectivity Standards Alliance to provide a common communication language between devices and controllers in the smart home.

Matter talks over Wi-Fi or Thread networks and is an evolution of how smart home devices work together, making it easier than ever to connect to the smart home platform of your choice.

Matter support is now available for the Decora Smart Wi-Fi 2nd Gen D26HD Smart Dimmer Switch, D215S Smart Switch, D23LP Smart Plug-In Dimmer and D215P Smart Plug-In Switch via free firmware updates in the My Leviton app. And, the first Matter

Decora Smart Wi-Fi and Matter FAQs

The Decora Smart Wi-Fi 2nd Gen D26HD Dimmer, D215S Switch, D215P Mini Plug-In Switch, and D23LP Mini Plug-In Dimmer can now be updated via firmware to enable Matter compatibility. The D215O Outdoor Plug-In Switch supports Matter right out of the box.

Matter is being enabled with a firmware update for Decora Smart Wi-Fi 2nd Gen devices in phases. Additional Wi-Fi 2nd Gen devices are planned for future updates. Decora Smart 1st Generation Wi-Fi and HomeKit devices are not being updated to support Matter.

To complete the firmware update, log in to the My Leviton app to enroll in Leviton’s Matter Early Access Program. Once enrolled, Matter-certified firmware can be installed on your compatible devices that have been enrolled to My Leviton using the System Updates tool. Click here for directions.

While enrollment in the Matter Early Access Program is optional, Matter enabling your devices offers many benefits including secure local communication with 3rd party Matter controllers such as compatible Amazon, Google, Apple, and SmartThings devices over your Wi-Fi network. If you choose not to update, your devices will continue to work as they do today.

If you are already using your Decora Smart Wi-Fi devices with Amazon Alexa, Google Home, SmartThings, IFTTT, or Schlage, updating your compatible Decora Smart Wi-Fi 2nd Gen devices to Matter will not impact your existing integrations.

If you are an Apple Home user, after the Matter update, your devices will be able to connect to Apple Home using Matter instead of HomeKit and will need to be re-enrolled to the Apple Home app using the Matter pairing code provided by the My Leviton app. Note, controlling Matter accessories with the Apple Home App and Siri requires an Apple Home hub such as a HomePod or Apple TV running the latest software. HomeKit devices and Matter devices can work alongside one another in the Apple Home app.

For specific information on updating Wi-Fi 2nd Gen devices currently enrolled to Apple Home via HomeKit to Matter enabled firmware, click here.

Matter enabled devices can be connected to supported platforms such as Amazon Alexa, Apple Home, Google Home, Samsung SmartThings, and more.

After enrolling in Leviton’s Matter Early Access Program, you are able to upgrade to Matter regardless of when you purchased your compatible Decora Smart Wi-Fi 2nd Gen device.

If your packaging has a Matter logo on it, you are good to go and your device will work with Matter straight out of the box.
